Our Flat Green Bowling Club
The Worksop Cricket and Sports Club Flat Green Bowling Section were founded in 1988 and playing by 1991. The club’s ethos is to welcome all new players, support existing players and help make the game of flat green bowling a great social game to play and enjoy whatever your age.
The cost of membership to the section is £35 (reviewed annually).The section has a beautifully maintained standard-sized flat green of 160sq yards, providing 6 rinks in 2 directions. It is surrounded by seating on 2 sides, hedged and fenced with safety-netted boundaries and is attended to by experienced green keepers. The is a lovely Pavilion with a club room, conservatory, kitchen and toilets. Refreshments are served for afternoon club sessions and community club leagues on Saturday, Wednesday and Friday. The bowling season extends in daylight hours, between Spring and late Summer. The flat green offers an open booking system for members (Mon-Sat 12 noon to dusk, Sun 10am to dusk) except when matches are being played.
Competition Matches
The flat green bowling section is affiliated with the Nottinghamshire County Bowling Association enabling members to enter competitions and play for the county. One of our members currently represents Nottinghamshire County.
The flat green bowling section competes in a number of local leagues and all members are encouraged to join in.
Matches are managed by:
Monday evening: The Retford Flat Green bowling League
Tuesday evening: The North Notts Flat Green Bowling League
Thursday and Saturday afternoons: The Mansfield Flat Green Bowling League
Community League matches are held on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and are internally managed by the flat green bowling section. Non-members are invited to join us.New Members
We offer a taster membership to see if the player likes it before signing up. We also loan bowls to people who want to try out flat green bowling.
If you would like to join our friendly section, please either join the club or pop down to the club. The bar is open daily after 6.00 pm.
The Flat Green Bowling section is a member of the wider Worksop Cricket and Sports Club and as such enjoys the facilities of this united group. Members are given 10% discount on bar charges. Town centre car parking is included in the membership fees for when you are using club facilities.
