Cricket History

Worksop was hosting a competitive cricket game between Nottingham and Sheffield as early as 1800 and the Worksop Cricket Club dates from the 1830s when games were played at the Manor Park ground. The Club is steeped in great cricketing history.

Why Choose Worksop?

 It is a friendly and lively club and welcomes new members of all ages. It has a well-organised training and coaching academy, with ECB Level 2 qualified coaches. (DBS certified)

The grounds boast 10 beautifully maintained match grass cricket wickets and an all-weather ‘Astro Turf’ training pitch, which is also used for Junior match cricket. Outdoor batting practice nets are readily available. The section has excellent changing facilities with showers dedicated for the Cricket section use, along with a well-appointed tea room, kitchen and meeting room.

The main playing season is from April to September.

Senior Playing

The teams play on Saturday in the Bassetlaw & District Cricket Leagues, Championship, Division Two and Division Six. Sunday fixtures are played in the Mansfield & District Cricket League.

Match fees are £10 (Saturday) and £5 (Sunday).

Training and coaching sessions are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the season from 6.00 pm. Winter indoor net sessions are arranged at Worksop College on Wednesday evenings.

Junior Playing

The teams play Bassetlaw and District Cricket Leagues, at U11, U13, and U15 age group categories. Competitive games occur on weekdays throughout the season.

Match fees are £5.

Kwik Cricket (softball form) for U7-U10 practice and games are undertaken from April onwards each season.

Training and coaching sessions are held weekly throughout the summer on Friday evenings at 6.00pm.
The Cricket section is a member of the wider Worksop Cricket and Sports Club and as such enjoys the facilities of this united group. We hold special social and fundraising events such as race nights, and sectional pool competitions, which are highly contested but great fun. As members you are given 10% discount on bar charges. Town centre car parking is included in the membership fees for when you are using club facilities.
