Why Worksop?
Worksop is a club of historical significance. Celebrating our 125th year at Central Avenue in 2025, our ground is a stone’s throw away from the Lion Hotel; the place in which the Bassetlaw League was founded.
As the game has modernised, and the days of Gentlemen and Players have passed – we exist within the Bassetlaw League structure for Saturday cricket and the Mansfield and District league for Sundays
In 2023 we established Worksop’s first women’s section – this is open to women and girls from age 12 and has a competitive and non-competitive structure.
And finally, our cricket academy is flourishing. While other local teams without junior sections stuggle, we continue to provide local people from age 5 with the opportunity to be part of a club.

Cricket History
Worksop was hosting a competitive cricket game between Nottingham and Sheffield as early as 1800 and the Worksop Cricket Club dates from the 1830s when games were played at the Manor Park ground. The Club is steeped in great cricketing history. This year, we celebrate our 125th year at Central Avenue.
